When people ask me writing advice, I always say: you have to love your reader. It's tempting to want to be loved by your reader, but the goal is actually to love them well.
If you see that God is in the business of protecting your preferred presidential candidate from death, but not the other person at the rally, or school children, or immigrants, or Palestinians, then it may be that you’re confusing your own political bias for God.
Five Black children taken from their parents after a Coffee County traffic stop in February will remain in the custody of @TN_DCS. @anitawadhwani and @PartipiloJ report from today's hearing. https://t.co/ybYoFxSAaP
We Christians don’t own truth or morality.
We don’t own our nation or its culture.
We don’t own marriage, family, or human sexuality.
We have convictions about these things, but so does everyone else.
Having deep convictions doesn’t give us the right to impose them on others.
Remember, the Holocaust didn’t start with gas chambers in Auschwitz.
It started with politicians dividing the people with “us vs them”.
It started with intolerance and hate speech.
It started when people stopped caring, became desensitized, and turned a blind eye.
Remember.
You don’t have to watch the video of #TyreNichols being beaten by police.
You don’t have to subject yourself to that trauma.
It should not require another video of a Black human being dehumanized for anyone to understand that police brutality is an urgent, devastating issue.
When we Christians become convinced that only we know the truth, that anyone who opposes us is on the side of evil, and things will only get better if we are in charge of all positions of power, that is when we know we are no longer worshiping God.
We are worshiping ourselves.
Before the 78th anniversary of the liberation of #Auschwitz we bring together the most important facts about the last stage of the operation of this German Nazi camp. See the rest of this [THREAD] below. 1/11
Had an issue getting my #SSRI script renewed last week so I’ve been off it for a few days. Having brown-outs and crazy vertigo. Nobody is available to deliver my refill so I’m about to try to walk there by myself. 🤞🏼
As you commemorate #MLKDay, please remember my mother, as well. She was the architect of the King Legacy and founder of @TheKingCenter, which she founded less than three months after Daddy was assassinated. Without #CorettaScottKing, there would be no MLK Day.

Auschwitz "did not fall from the sky".
Auschwitz took time. The industrial murder was at the end of a long process which began with coining the idea. Words & propaganda reinforced stereotypes & prejudice. Legal exclusion and dehumanization was followed by escalating violence.
@joncoopertweets I don’t feel this kind of language is helpful in resolving tension between current political factions. Yes, both of them are dangerous cult leaders, but this line of thinking really doesn’t move difficult conversations in a positive direction.
The 5 LOTR Love Languages
acts of service: I can't carry it but I can carry you!
words of affirmation: my precious
receiving gifts: it came to me on my birthday
physical touch: it's quite cool
quality time: "I'm going to Mordor alone" Of course you are & I'm going with you!
I’ve learned afresh recently that many people don’t leave churches b/c of the theology the leadership holds, but b/c of the way the leadership holds that theology.
How we believe is just as important as what we believe. And in many ways, how we believe reveals what we believe.
Oh, my goodness.
Do we have any idea how lonely people are?
As Christians, maybe we should get more fired up about this than a lot of political things. What would happen if we put our emotional energy into noticing the lonely that live all around us?
