volcanic ash | spatial patterns in land cover at high-latitudes | human-env interactions in Iceland | remote sensing with drones
@rtstreeter is an environmental geographer interested in volcanic ash and tephrochronology of Iceland. He is looking for #PhD students on two topics, one on spatial variation in nutrients in Icelandic tundra...

Attention Tephra Lovers! Like volcanoes, tephra, (paleo)climate, geochronology and all things related? Join us for the next Commission on Tephrochronology meeting with our friends at INTIMATE and the Tephra Hazard Modelling commission. @IAVCEI_COT@IAVCEI_thm@INT_I_MA_TE_Net
A fantastic week at #EGU23 in Vienna. I had the chance to present my research on soil erosion monitoring in the Arctic tundra. It was great to meet old and new colleagues and explore all the exciting research that is going on. Thanks for the support @ScotArcticNet#ArcticScot
@JessCHope@PalyAlly Thats a variety of squash called Galeaux D’Eysines and always has the warts (not sure why). The others are crown prince squash which we always grow as tastes fab
📢NEW POSTS: come and work with us 🤩. We are looking for 2x #physical#geography colleagues: 👉1 Senior Lecturer/Reader https://t.co/BvMj2i9bP7 AND 👉 1 Lecturer/Senior Lecturer with expertise in #remotesensing https://t.co/BvMj2i9bP7
Since then @GKodl has started working on this project and we have mapped a whole load more sites in Iceland, installed a series of temp and soil moisture loggers, and this year started working at a site in Finland
This time 5 yrs ago me and @biophys_nick were in Iceland mapping erosion spots with #drones We spent 10 days in the north east of Iceland and mapped 12 sites. We were interested in where in the landscape erosion spots occured
It was the first time we had used drones, so a bit of a learning curve, but we ended up with a great dataset and a new perspective on the landscape. The data and findings from that trip went into this paper: https://t.co/ulSIqbZ8bu
A hot afternoon with the @StAndrewsSGSD P4 multispectral drone surveying a peatland in Fife so that we can construct a DEM and vegetation map - helping out @KHRoucoux@PalyAlly and Ian Lawson who are working at this site.
This paper launches our updated and upgraded article format! We’ve implemented many suggestions for improvements, as well as building in further streamlined links between submission materials and our typesetting workflow!
Great to see Conner’s paper published! Conner undertook this work during his research masters @StAndrewsSGSD and @WW_Koster helped me out with the #tephra sample collection during a trip to south Iceland in 2019.
New paper! Morison, C. and Streeter, R. (2022) “The influence of vegetation cover on the grain-size distributions and thicknesses of two Icelandic tephra layers”, Volcanica, 5(2), pp. 227–248.

My favourite book of the year so far - wonderfully written @PaddyCGalbraith Made me realise i should really appreciate being able to sometimes see Grey Partridges from my kitchen window! #eastneuk#fife
