Even though Deceive Inc.'s developer shut down last year, the team is coming back to make sure the game doesn’t die.

The developers announced they’re adding support for community-hosted servers, meaning players will be able to run their own servers and keep the game alive without relying on official ones.

They’re also working to preserve player progression, unlocks, and stats, while making it easier for the community to create mods.

The team said they don’t believe Deceive Inc. should “quietly disappear” just because the original live-service model came to an end.

Nintendo has lost another round in its ongoing patent battle with Palworld developer Pocketpair.

A key disagreement was Nintendo’s claim that a 2013 Pokémon fan game should not have been used as prior art because it allegedly infringed Pokémon’s copyright.

The JPO was not convinced. It called Nintendo’s interpretation “a completely unreasonable misunderstanding,” adding that “The mere possibility that the reasons for rejection could be subject to such an unreasonable misunderstanding has no bearing on the assessment of inventive step.”

The examiner also rejected Nintendo’s complaints about references to characters like Ash, Pikachu, and Poké Balls.

The notice said that even if those names were replaced with descriptions like “an object in the form of a boy wearing a red cap” or “a spherical object with a red upper half and a white lower half,” “the logical structure of the grounds for refusal remains unchanged.
Therefore, this argument has no bearing on determining inventive step.”

@searchofheave @ShiningScience I did. But they did the experiments mostly on living humans, which Is in fact unethical. And which I would not support. But if you are willing to give your body for the sake of other human lives when you are already dead, why would you care much exc. for the result being the same

I'm sure "The Odyssey" will do great but, FACTS:

Production: $250M
Marketing: $125M
Distribution/other costs: $25–50M
Total investment: $400–425M

Also, studios do not keep 100% of ticket sales - they ultimately receive about 50% of worldwide box office (more domestically, less internationally).

So if total costs are:

$400 million, breakeven = $800 million worldwide

$425 million, breakeven = $850 million worldwide

And for anyone who claims it only needs $375–500 million to break even, that implies Universal spent nothing for the nationwide/global marketing campaign, and that theatres take no part of that box office.

Just wanted to get this out there before the lies start.
