hard to peel apart his tone. it's close enough to disdain-- cruel enough to be disgust. wet earth laps at the knees of his coveralls as he sinks to the spot beside Jake.
his stomach churns. it's Her creation; all things are. to see it in this state, to see it
@ferrumautem mountain whose face is carved from bone. the moon lights him from behind-- it traces every savage coil of metal and exposed skin, lining him in silver.
heavy animal exhale; eyes fixed on the bird.
@ferrumautem apparition in the dark. he materializes from the ether, silent and looking. apex predator with his eyes cast downward, though Jake forfeited his link in the food chain long ago.
sniffed out the weakness, or maybe heard its cry. either way, night delivers him here: a scowling
@ferrumautem Silent audience, boots sinking in the earth. Spectator of a crime as black as sin; the ultimate evil-- destruction of his craft.
Instinct tells him to swing, and sever the hands and the gall that drives them. He doesn't. And waits for the rage to make way for intrigue.
@ferrumautem can always be fixed. the home can't reject his skilled hands; can't coldly turn away from his right to repair it. it has no choice.
he follows him out but quits his path halfway through. the outdoors swallows him as he shoulders his way through the manor's mouth.
@ferrumautem takes him a while but he finds his way. swaying. shoulder to the wall, his thick hands feeling through the dark. different kind of predator tonight-- hindered, sloppy. relying on bulk and dumb luck.
