One thing I admire about United's current recruitment is the focus on proven quality. Matheus Cunha, Bryan Mbeumo and Benjamin Sesko have all shown they can deliver at the highest level.

Hayden Hackney is a good talent, but it is no surprise United are prioritising players who are ready to make an immediate impact.

HGames like this make it clear that Mbeumo cannot lead the line alone. A proper striker is needed, and with Mount out injured, another midfielder is not debatable. Santos, though, looks like a clear upgrade on Ugarte.

Amad’s World Cup experience seems to have given him a real confidence boost. He’s taking on defenders, driving forward and playing with so much freedom. The whole team is loving it.
