Zubeen Garg Mayabini has been removed from Spotify!

A lot of fans are asking why Zubeen Garg’s iconic song Mayabini has suddenly disappeared from Spotify and other streaming platforms.

So far, there has been no official response from Spotify or other music apps.

But here’s what we understand

When a particular track gets played excessively in a very short span of time, Spotify’s automated system sometimes flags it as “suspicious activity.” This is not unique to Zubeen’s case, it has happened globally as well.

For example, Kendrick Lamar’s Not Like Us was briefly removed under similar circumstances. The platforms thought the track was being botted meaning artificial streaming was pushing numbers in an abnormal way.

Now, under US law, artificially inflating stream counts is treated as a serious issue, since it affects chart rankings, royalties, and the credibility of the platform. That’s why Spotify often takes a cautious step and temporarily removes the song until things are clarified.

In such cases, hopefully, the track usually returns once the label confirms everything is legitimate and clears it up with Spotify.

They had no awareness i am Assamese. So glad I wrote this piece. Zubeen is beyond an icon. Like my Dada says, he was a Gandharva, who came among us mortals for some time.

Today our Chief Minister is one of us. Personally, I have never seen him so genuine, sincere and compassionate as this. He looks tired, grieving and deeply impacted, just like all of us. For once, I am so glad he is helming the farewell of Zubeen. As Zubeen’s bier is lowered and his immaculately brave wife walks in like a queen, as befits the wife Hohodhormini of a people’s King, a tremendous grief sits on my throat and heart. Farewell.

My career now spans 44 years.

If there’s one enduring thing I’ve learned, it’s that nothing lasts forever.

The tough moments, the pressure, the setbacks, they all pass.

When you’re in the eye of the storm, it can feel like it’ll never end, but it always does.

Stress is only a drain.

Just focus on doing the best you can, staying the course and trusting that the situation will shift.
