I'd add another that has been maligned-Day One rights. When focus is on bosses,it's all on the risk of extra costs. But for workers, day one rights to eg mat leave means women in their 30s are no longer scared to move jobs, they can bolster pay, climb career ladder, pay more tax
Interesting discussion on how we meet the health and care needs of our ageing population.
Lots of agreement on the need for integration and joint working across health and social care.
Interesting discussion on how to care for the 26 million people living with long-term health conditions.
Plenty of agreement on the need to focus on prevention and integration
Great to hear from the Minister of State for Social Care @Helen_Whately at our panel today about the need to recognise the skill and value of care workers. Our #Carenomics report found 4 out of 5 UK jobs are currently better paid than social care.

(1/2) “We need a long-term workforce plan for adult social care alongside the NHS workforce plan. Exciting opportunities exist for NHS and social care staff to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams to enhance quality of care, improve outcomes and transform lives.”
We have published our latest Care Provision and Workforce Survey.
Which revealed over half of providers (54%) reported they are delivering less care than this time last year, despite the fact that demand for services has risen.

📢 The Carer’s Leave Bill has passed in the House of Lords and is just one step away from becoming law!
This means millions of people juggling employment and unpaid care will have a #RightToCarersLeave for the very first time. 🧵
This International Women's day we are celebrating the amazing contribution that women make in Homecare, to enable people to live well at home.
Tell us about the women you work with in Homecare by using #WomenInHomecare#IWD2023
A massive thank you to @wendychambLD for bringing forward the Carer’s Leave Bill, which will give over two million unpaid carers a #RightToCarersLeave for the first time.
Thanks also to all the MPs who supported this Bill, which passed in the House of Commons today.
New research by @homecareassn shows that poor pay & T&C’s of employment continue to be key in reducing staff retention & increasing unmet need.
Hardly surprising when @ComIntCare reveals careworkers paid £8,000 less than NHS equivalents in England

Orgs like @homecareassn welcome extra funding, but:
“We are concerned some of the funding is based on increasing Council Tax. Councils in areas of higher deprivation with low house prices will receive less funding for any increase in the rate…exacerbating the post code lottery”
A reminder for @RishiSunak's in-tray of the state of #socialcare. Since I wrote this in May, the workforce crisis may well be worse and there are threats to even the limited reforms (the means test change/cap on costs) due to come in next year. Action can't be put off.
It's horrendous. Especially as we're now near the end of the assessment period that sets Oct's cap, so this is the right ball park.
The Oct prediction is now £450/yr HIGHER than Ofgem mooted in May & that was what Sunak based the £400-£1,200/yr help on.
More will be needed!
Breaking on @FT website:
Boris Johnson’s government is set to postpone plans to give workers in Britain the right to flexible employment - in a move that will prompt a backlash from trade unions and Labour

Success! New carers’ rights firmly put into Health & Care Bill as MPs vote for amendment to ensure duty to involve carers at hospital discharge. Includes young carers of adults & guidance will be strengthened. Thanks to everyone who supported our campaign!
