This is genuinely terrifying. Having an understanding of history outside of what those close to you tell you is integral to having a well-rounded view of the world. Only being informed on history insofar as what your family tells you is simply not enough - especially in SA!!
Fifty-seven Afrikaans-medium schools did not offer history in grades 10 to 12 last year. A report by the Department of Basic Education found only 11% of white pupils chose history in Grade 12.

They don’t like that we oppose British rule, that we don’t believe that England serves anyone in Ireland and the working classes on both sides of the community deserve better; deserve funding, deserve appropriate mental health services, deserve to celebrate music and art and deserve the freedom to express our culture.
In opposing us they broke their own laws.
