Did you miss out on the Destined Rivals Pokemon Center exclusive ETB drop?
Good.
I also missed out.
Good.
Missing out on a hyped Pokemon release is actually an opportunity.
Here’s 3 surprising reasons why 👇👇
During this booming Pokémon market, it’s easy to feel left out when we’re not able to score a hyped new release like Destined Rivals. The FOMO is too real.
But, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
In fact, having collected through the last booming Pokémon market, I’ve experienced first-hand the way missing out can actually be good. And here are the top reasons:
1. Time to See How You REALLY Feel
During a boom, each new set release is surrounded by massive hype: absolutely everyone wants to get their hands on the hot new thing. And, with the surge in demand driving all-time high prices at release, this unfortunately includes all the scalpers and other short-term opportunists who have entered the market.
But, over time, the hype for new releases tends to fade and, in hindsight, we may feel differently about this specific set.
For example, Chilling Reign was the 2nd set from the Sword & Shield era to feature alternate art V and VMAX cards. And when it released back in 2021, everyone wanted it.
Until… Evolving Skies came out after it. And Celebrations after that. Oh, and Brilliant Stars with the Trainer Gallery and that amazing Charizard V alt art…
Over time, the hype faded.
So, missing out just means you have more time to figure out how you really feel about the product.
Good.
2. Time to See Reprints
The Pokémon Company has already promised that the latest sets are going to reprinted. And missing out on this release just gives you time to see how large these reprints are.
We may have the chance to get these Destined Rivals PC ETBs at MSRP in the future!
That’s exactly what happened to Chilling Reign: in addition to the hype fading for this set, The Pokémon Company printed it to oblivion, driving booster box prices as low as $79.95, and dragging down the PC ETBs prices with it.
And that’s not all: the Celebrations PC ETBs followed a similar fate.
Despite being incredibly hyped at release, by the end of Celebration’s short print run, the Pokémon Center increased the maximum order size for the PC ETBs from the typical 4 per person, to a wild 10 boxes per person!
And, the Celebrations PC ETBs still stayed available for weeks!
Missing out just means we get to see how large the reprints are so we can take full advantage of them.
Good.
3. Time to Find Out How To Get the Most From Our Collecting Dollars
In the end, missing out gives us time to see how we really feel about the product, and what actually happens to the market price. This allows us to make sure we’re getting the most from our hard-earned collecting dollars.
We’re not just chasing trends and feeding off hype.
Missing out means we’re watching, learning, and acting in a way that’s best for us.
Good.
So, did you miss out on the Destined Rivals Pokemon Center exclusive ETB drop?
