@AmericanMadeDog @saltyeng_ You’re welcome! One other thing I’ll offer is that once you get to the senior O5 and O6 level, there are few jobs to go to other than major command that aren’t staff jobs on a flag staff somewhere. Its just the nature of climbing the pyramid to that level.

@AmericanMadeDog @saltyeng_ That said, none of my peers from my submariner days have made O6 without O5 command, and most were SSN/SSBN command tours.

I made O6 as a CSWO without having had a command tour (I did a CISO tour on an LHD, was the COMMO at NCTAMS LANT, and the N6 on a CSG staff). Not unheard of in my community, since we only have a small handful of O5 command jobs.

@AmericanMadeDog @saltyeng_ Depends on your community, but generally command is the bigger priority for the URLs. SWOs, Submariners, Aviators, and SpecWar aren’t going to make Captain without a successful O5 command tour (could be command ashore though).
