@tiberiusjk1701@newrepublic@mehdirhasan This is the right take. Unfortunately there’s no longer any room for nuance in today’s political climate. At this point you’re either a MAGA republican or a progressive liberal. Anything in between is a betrayal of the extremes.

@ShadowNeedsHelp @davidpdxer @Enby_Rat_PDX @Sabas4Life @shanedkavanaugh@Nicole_A_Hayden Agreed completely. But again, barring a complete overhaul of PDX policy, shouldn’t orgs be making a collaborative effort to make things as less complicated & traumatic as possible? I get the ‘erosion of trust’ but I also think these are urgent matters that need urgent resources.
@AlanAston45 I appreciate you taking the time to look at the info & I agree- the wolf debate tends to rely more on emotions than facts. Which leaves little room for actually trying to solve the problem & look for solutions that benefit both the wolves/ecosystems & ranchers/livestock.
‘We reached the old wolf in time to watch a fierce green fire dying in her eyes. I realized then, and have known ever since, that there was something new to me in those eyes - something known only to her and to the mountain…’

@AlanAston45 & while I do think the original video can be considered a fluff piece to garner sympathy- I think it’s a better narrative than it’s anthropocentric opposite that mainly serves to stoke misguided & unwarranted fear of wolves who coexisted in nature long before we were settled here
@AlanAston45 Maybe I can’t imagine what’s specifically happened to you & your livestock in Idaho, but having spent years researching wolves in Oregon where I live, I can tell you that wolf predation is highly exaggerated & animosity toward wolves is misplaced at best.

@AlanAston45@Rainmaker1973 @GraceHa800 Read Aldo Leopold’s ‘Thinking Like a Mountain’. Maybe it’ll change your mind. Maybe it won’t. It’s a short but important read when thinking about anthropocentrism & balance in nature.
