"I'm an academic," Refaat Alareer said on day 3 of Israel’s genocide. "The toughest thing I have at home is an Expo marker. But if the Israelis invade ... I'm going to use that marker to throw it at the Israeli soldiers, even if that is the last thing that I would be able to do."
He was raped to death, and the same media that called racist soccer thugs getting beat up a ‘pogrom’ have ignored it.
We are being lied to, cheated, played like fools!
I am fixated on the man with crutches. His head is down. He struggles, the pain and humiliation unequal to any human.
These are Palestinians, many of them medical workers. They are wearing very ordinary briefs and shoes, suggesting the very basic means available to these men. Imagine being one of those Israeli soldiers? What must be going through their heads?
The Geneva Conventions (1949) says that civilians must not be taken prisoner, and that 'outrages upon personal dignity, in particular humiliating and degrading treatment' is basically a war crime.
Each one of these Israeli soldiers, regardless of what they are thinking, are war criminals.
Real exploration isn't about conquering or claiming.
It's about:
• Building bridges between cultures
• Learning from different perspectives
• Adapting to new environments
Ibn Battuta didn't just travel the world, he showed us how to understand it.
His writings revealed something profound:
The medieval world was far more connected than we imagine.
While Europe was in the Dark Ages, Ibn Battuta documented thriving civilizations and complex trade networks across Asia and Africa.
But there's an even bigger lesson here:
Later in life, the Sultan of Morocco asked him to document his travels.
The result? The Rihla - one of history's most detailed travel accounts.
It wasn't just about places, but about:
• Political systems
• Cultural practices
• Trade routes and religious customs
Everyone talks about the same explorers like:
Columbus, Captain Cook and Marco Polo.
But there's one traveler who journeyed farther than all of them combined.
Meet Ibn Battuta, the greatest adventurer in human history (and his forgotten story):
