I just finished 2 weeks of work in the hospital.
Here’s a glimpse of what I saw.
The kind of things that remind you why medicine is so good.
First up:
An S4 gallop you could not only hear… but see.
Excited to share work that was born from a need to accelerate care of #patients with #LungCancer & ⬇️wait times. It has become 🔑 in era of neoadjuvant ChemoIO #tssmn@LungCancer_Can

The SVS encourages practices and institutions to join the IMPROVE-AD clinical trial to help find the best ways to treat type B aortic dissections. To join the trial, please email the addresses on the graphics, and to learn more visit: https://t.co/FhrEmeW6PI
For surgical history nerds:
Here is the main figure from Seldinger's 1953 paper showing what later became known as the Seldinger technique.
There seem to be 2 extra things that Seldinger did that most people probably don't do these days, as we'll see next:

Fresh on @CircAHA outcomes of @AorticC on 1,109 elective #endovascular#thoracoabdominal#aneurysm repair: 2.7% 30d mortality, 3.8% 5yr aortic related mortality and 2.7% 5yr aortic rupture. A testament to the effectiveness of #fbevar in centers of excellence
1/How can we reduce wait times for biopsies & get patients with #lungcancer to treatment faster, especially in this era of #precision therapy?

1/24 Recently, I started reading a lot about vascular waterfall (VW) and its importance in cardiovascular physiology. It seemed confusing at first, but the more I read about it, the more it fascinated me. 🧵 about physiology!
WELCOME TO 🐅 🐅🐅 COUNTRY!
How do you approach a penetrating neck injury? Not so easy, right? Check our our first of its kind video spelling out the approach to neck wounds. High def, high yield, and entirely bad ass.

As the complexity of surgery and patient care changes, so do the implications for training. How must we change the ways we assess this “future surgeon,” who is charged with mastering knowledge, technical skill, and soft skills? 🤔 https://t.co/JBRtCyjwze
@abiramchandra @BobbyYanagawa @EthiconCanada @UofTCVsurgery Thanks Abi! These are practice vessels that came with the kit as part of the anastomosis course. They’re similar material to the silicon suture kit.
Spent the past week practicing vascular anastomosis, think I have finally started to get the hang of it! Thank you Dr. Paul Sergeant, @BobbyYanagawa @EthiconCanada and @UofTCVsurgery for this course. Lots to improve on, appreciate any feedback
With June upon us, the countdown to July 1 is underway! To help all our new surgical interns get ready to #DominateTheDay, #BTK will have daily #InternBootcamp posts with some 🔑 information 😎
