She’s resisting the urge to squeal in excitement, but couldn’t stop herself from throwing her arms around her brother, squeezing him tightly.
“Do you mean it?” Relief washed over her.
She smiled a little, hands moving to delicately rest over her growing baby bump.
“More than I’ve ever loved anything,” she admitted, herself surprised by it. She’d never known such love, such devotion.
“Will you help?”
He snapped back to look at her, his facade literally melting into nothing.
He never imagined that she would want to be a mother, and here she was fretting over her child over her own safety, and even the safety of EJ.
“You, you really love the child…don’t you?”
She tried not to get too excited, but the moment Zander let his hardened facade fall, she knew he was right where she needed him. She breathed a small sigh of relief.
“You boys don’t need to have a tea party. . . Just— please. I can’t even think of what they’ll do to her.”
It all clicked into place. She was going to carry this baby, even if it killed her. The determination in her eyes was evident, as well as the tears that now formed.
