I was honored to attend the launch of the PARLIAMENTARY FORUM ON MENSTRUAL HEALTH & HYGIENE as a member of The Period Equality Network cordinated by @IriseEastAfrica
Seeing Members of Parliament commit to championing menstrual health and hygiene through legislation, policy advocacy, resource allocation and parliamentary oversight was a significant moment for the movement.
The establishment of the Forum’s Executive Committee and Regional Champions also creates an important structure for sustained parliamentary engagement across Uganda.
As menstrual health advocates, we have long called for menstrual health to be treated as an issue of dignity, health, WASH and equity. I’m glad to be part of a growing movement pushing these conversations into spaces where policy and accountability can translate into lasting change. @LillianBagala | @GeorginaAsizu
Expanding contraceptive choices means giving people more quality options to make informed decisions about their reproductive health. Strengthening providers’ skills is an important step toward making these options more accessible, especially in the private sector. 👏🏾
