The over-intellectualuzation of why we don't like someone is sooo 2024 lol.
Think pieces on why Amanda Seales isn't likable, or why Drake isn't really hip-hop or Black?
Y'all tell on yourselves and the unevenness of your principles.😭
Just say you pick and choose 🤷🏾♂️
Hiphop purists keep idealizing one guy as the spirit of "real" hiphop, and the other as some sort of hiphop colonizer who is commercializing everything in his wake.
They're fundamentally the same: characters/brands making tons of money. None are activists or advocates.
@goatedcris7 Exactly. Capitalism masked by fake codes, ethics, and the appearance of respectability. If we're going to gatekeep hiphop for authenticity, we need to be equitable in how we do it.
There will be no definitive "win" in this battle between Drake and Kendrick. Everything is tribal now and focused on reinforcing our biases. Algorithms reinforce opinions and turn our feeds into echo chambers. Much like in real life, the institutions will profit most off the war.
