Asexuality is queer.
It’s one of the ‘A’s in LGBTQIA+.
But *why* is asexuality queer? Because queerness is defined by opposition to normativity.
In a society that assumes everyone does—and should—experience sexual attraction, it’s queer to say you don’t.
Dear companies: You are doing April Fools Day wrong if you announce a joke product that people actually want to buy but cannot.
Isn't having people walk away disappointed, just about the opposite of the goal of marketing?
@PonchoRebound Haha, yes! And when the parents make this giant homecooked breakfast, and then the kid comes down, takes one bite of toast, and then a car honks outside and the kid is like "gotta go." And the parents aren't even bothered.
@meanpomelo I told them if they want a scolding, I'd be happy to give them one about why I don't appreciate that word being used as if I'm the "mean mom" of the discord.
@meanpomelo A few weeks ago in our discord I politely asked for an off topic conversation to move to a different channel. Someone called it a "scolding."
@GameMinimalist Perhaps the question could be reframed as “recommend me some great X games!”
Asking about my favourite is asking my personal preference. Whether it’s widely available isn’t a consideration for MY fav. But if asked to recommend games, certainly availability is factored in.
@JenCam1981 Right! So tired of checking multiple platforms. Lately I just google "[game name] pledge manager" and hope it pops up. And at least one of the PM platforms is pretty cryptic on how to even get back into it once you've closed!
Dear board game industry colleagues. If your campaign and PM aren't hosted on the same platform, *please* make it a point to say the actual name of the PM platform in any update that mentions action needed in the PM. If you can provide a link, all the better!
@MoreGamesPls Yes! And remember, if you're in online spaces we frequent, especially spaces we created (our discord/facebook groups), we are almost certainly reading it. So try to be kind and fair there too. Because even if you aren't talking directly to us, you might as well be.
Just finished the season finale of Survivor. This is the TV show I have watched longer than anything else in my life, since I was in 7th grade. And I still love it :)
Curious, what are y'alls shows that you've watched for the longest amount of time and still love?
If you’re at a social gathering and someone tells you they don’t drink, this isn’t an invitation to interrogate, a challenge to overcome, or a judgement of YOUR drinking. It just means that they don’t drink. Leave them alone about it.
Also to add, I'm so happy to be at a point that I'm not embarrassed of my fandoms anymore. There was a time where I knew certain things I enjoyed weren't "cool" and I hid them. I'm so happy to just be able to find joy wherever I want and not worry about the judgement of others.
There are so many rad women in the board game industry. Like, there are not even close to enough of us, but the ones that are here are overwhelmingly cool as hell.
