Pretty shocking to me getting to know the owners of this country wouldn’t be counted in census till 1967 and worth to understand there was a referendum to decide this! #Reconciliation#NRW2020#InThisTogether
Their clan name was most likely derived from wallumai which means snapper fish,so they would’ve been the snapper people. Artefacts are scattered around the area of Ryde, such as axe-grinding grooves and rock engravings. Their history still survives and I appreciate their land.
Use the time to learn the country you live. I live in Marsfield, at the time of the arrival of Europeans in 1788, the Wallumedegal or Wallumede people were the traditional owners of the land which they called Wallumetta. This clan formed part of the larger Dharug language group.
Nice to see notes with natural design rather than human pictures. Royal Bank of Scotland's £20 note is designed to celebrate nature and culture https://t.co/tdtNkAYPBj via @dezeen
