Today marks 9 years since the Grenfell Tower fire.
But 9 years on, there is still no justice.
9 years on & people still live in unsafe buildings.
We must not forget those killed because of dishonesty and corporate greed.
It's pretty disgraceful that there has been absolutely no mention of this from the Prime Minister.
It's increasingly clear that some attacks, correctly, warrant disgust, emergency measures and days of media coverage.
Others seem to be met with silence.
Nothing encapsulates medical school more than waking up at 6:30am to leave for a one hour (expensive ish) commute to turn up to be told the clinic is cancelled.
Only four weeks left luckily…
After 11pm on New Year’s Eve 13 years ago a locum GP rang our doorbell. She’d seen our 6 year old son’s blood test results and didn’t want to wait til morning. He had leukaemia with dangerous complications. I have no idea what her name is but she saved his life. Cheers to her 🥂
Physician *assistant.
In London…
A day 1 doctor = £19.71/ hr
A day 1 assistant = £28.86/ hr
I know no one is going to hospital to see a doctor’s assistant.
When you wait 12+ hours to see a doctor in A&E, remember that 12 other doctors applied to be that doctor and got turned away.
Doctors are unemployed and cannot find work, whilst last night ambulances waited 6+ hours outside my A&E to be seen.
That is why Doctors are striking.
