Welcome to another edition of GoMarket Weekly, where our guest expert Mike Ermolaev breaks down the latest developments in the crypto world!

🔝 Bitcoin’s Market Dominance Surges

Bitcoin (BTC) has enjoyed a stunning 10.7% gain over the past seven days, boosting its market dominance to 58.96%, the highest level since March 2021. This increase signals BTC's strength in the market, but behind the scenes, we’re seeing a supply-demand imbalance that could lead to serious volatility. According to analysts at Glassnode, the demand for Bitcoin has been steadily declining since its ATH in March 2024, while the active supply has been tightening. Long-term holders (HODLers) are keeping their coins, creating a balance that could break dramatically with the right catalyst.

🟢 Tether (USDT) Hits 330M Onchain Users

Stablecoins are gaining ground fast, and Tether (USDT) is leading the charge with an incredible 330 million onchain wallets and accounts—equivalent to the population of the United States. And that’s just onchain data that doesn’t account for CEXs.

🌍 A16z Reports 617M Global Crypto Users

According to a16z Crypto, there are currently 617 million cryptocurrency users worldwide, but here’s the catch—only 5-10% of them are active! That’s just 30-60 million active users regularly interacting with crypto applications. The report urges for more user-friendly apps to engage the growing base of passive users.

💰 Trump Raises $7.5M in Crypto

Donald Trump's team has raised a massive $7.5 million in cryptocurrency donations for his 2024 presidential campaign. Trump’s fundraising committee received major support from BTC, ETH, XRP, USDT, and USDC donations. With crypto advocates rallying behind Trump, his new World Liberty Financial project — an ambitious decentralized bank initiative — continues to show his pro-crypto stance. But Trump isn’t the only candidate tapping into the crypto community — Kamala Harris is also gaining traction among crypto donors like Chris Larsen of Ripple.

��️ Cybercrime & Bitcoin Laundering Sentences Loom

Crypto crime isn’t slowing down. Prosecutors are recommending a 60-month prison sentence for Ilya Lichtenstein, the hacker behind laundering 119,754 BTC stolen from Bitfinex in 2016. Meanwhile, a recent SEC hack using a SIM-swap attack also shook the crypto space - reminding us that security challenges are far from over.

🇮🇹 Italy's Bitcoin Tax Hike

Italy is tightening the screws on Bitcoin taxation, with plans to raise the capital gains tax to 42% in 2025 for profits exceeding €2,000. In an effort to regulate crypto markets, the Italian government is pushing for more transparency and stricter payment rules for services. Will this spark a domino effect across Europe, or are other countries content to go their own way?
