In 2008, the police department in Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, used the Nintendo Wii’s Mii creator to make a wanted poster for a hit-and-run suspect. Instead of using a police sketch artist or photofit software, they simply customized the face, hair, sunglasses, and other features to match the suspect’s appearance. The Mii image was then printed on posters for the investigation.
