@CrimeLineLaw If you look at the bottom of the judgment you can see that for a 13 month prison sentence people now serve just over 2 and a half months before being released
@CrimeLineLaw That is one of the most horrific cases I have seen - and I'm not one to bash probation but how he was not recalled before this murder is beyond me.
@BarristerSecret@Dominic2306 Leaving aside the ad hominems, one could point out the Parliament overturning Supreme Court decisions literally is the rule of law in this country.
@Barrister79 These days I believe it is almost entirely profile. I think they may still do some appeal cases from the City of London Magistrates Court but otherwise it is all the class 1 work in London (generally fatal cases) and some nationally high profile work.
@nationalrailenq@SarahESeaton The problem is the app is now almost useless whereas before it was perfect.
Also restoring adfree purchase doesn't work but that is the least of the problems.
Can you please just give an option to install National Rail Enquiries App Classic please.
@alisdairrmsmith@MAMBarLife I assume that's something to do with the banner I saw on evidence dot com the other day which said they had improved the auto transcription facilities. Hopefully it will be a help with RASSO cases so long as someone checks the automatic transcript.
@RalphHassall@Kirsty_Brimelow https://t.co/6VVDSqcNjZ is an excellent report of that case and shows that it didn't add anything to his sentence and in fact the Judge went below the category range in his case despite his extensive (although not recent) previous convictions.
@RoddyQC@sonny_dayton Is this a difference with English and Scottish law but rape between 14 year olds means no consent and has nothing to do with age. Also the article is dreadfully written but the impact of the overcrowding is not the suspension of the 2 months but not activating the 2 years.
@kirkkorner Leave to one side the DVLA, I wonder whether Magistrates are aware that even in the case of a guilty plea they are entitled to ask the prosecuting body to review the case to see if it is in the public interest. Reading this statement one might hope they would ask for a review.
