To each, their own. If his wife gave the "go-ahead" for him to do whatever he wants to do in the house in order to try to win, then he's not not out of line (in terms of doing right by her). However, in terms of marriage as an institution, it is wrong, as the element of sacrifice that is meant to be carried throughout life isn't highlighted and celebrated.
