Balancing Two Worlds: Music Business Executive & Afro-Fusion Artist
As Oluwakemi Fagboro, aka Chemmie, I've mastered the art of juggling two roles: Afro-fusion artist and catalogue administrator & rights relation manager at @DigitalMusicCE. It's like being a front-end and back-end developer🤖
My experience managing catalogs of iconic artists (K1 De Ultimate, Saheed Osupa, Sola Allyson, etc.) gives me a unique perspective as an artist. I have come to understand the business side, which informs my creative decisions and helps me navigate the industry with ease.
This expertise also enables me to offer valuable services to myself and other artists, such as:
1) Rights management: ensuring proper royalty collection and distribution
2) Catalogue administration: maintaining accurate records and metadata
3) Music distribution strategy: getting music on the right platforms and maximizing reach
It's a win-win! By understanding the backend, I can focus on creating amazing music on the frontend.
Also, I just dropped a new song, "HAPPY" with @ZyrxSounds 🎶 Go stream it now and let's keep the vibe going!

The music industry is a business. If i sign you up with 50m which covers the costs of a 10 tracker album, I would have to first recoup that investment before you can ask for a higher percentage of your earnings.
Nigerians should stop acting like labels are"father Christmas"pls.
We all know of Nig artistes who have left their labels which became the death of their careers. I think I would advise any intending artiste to take a cue from the likes of Simi and definitely kizz Daniel on life after leaving your label. Duduke has been heavy on repeat btw.
So I was just thinking out & feel @simi progress close to one year leaving x3m music might just need to be studied & copied! Simi signed a five year deal with her former label which got expired last year May. She decided not to renew & has still been visible in our faces & ears.
From our experience in this industry, investing in a musical artiste is the most expensive and risky investment but if it pulls through, it becomes your biggest cash cow.
While movies are the safest as you can make money via theaters, selling to v.o.d platforms, cable etc
Right now, a lot of movie producers are selling (non exclusive) to v.o.d platforms like Netflix and the rest.
While the others are constantly on the necks of their post production team to wrap up as platforms are in dire need of movies these covid 19 times.
Guys! We back 💃 . From tomorrow, we will begin educating and enlightening everyone on how the"showbiz"world locally & internationally works.
It's gonna be a fun time henceforth.
