The Senate is farce. They are a group of clowns who enjoy fooling the Filipino people. We should not be fooled by their play with words, archiving is the same as killing the impeachment. Archival is dismissal.

By prematurely archiving the impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte, even as a motion for reconsideration remains pending before the Supreme Court, it has chosen impunity over accountability.

This is a clear betrayal of its constitutional duty. The Senate, once a bastion of democracy and check on abuse, has today declared itself the Senate of the Dutertes.

Akbayan condemns this act in the strongest terms. We stand with the people in demanding truth, accountability, and a Senate that serves the nation, not one political dynasty.

The Senators may have denied the impeachment its day in court, but they will not escape the judgment of the people. History will remember those who turned their backs on justice. The people shall remember who they must hold accountable.
