@joelleeyq @AlecTorelli If I hit trips against a 5-bet pre flop raiser, I'd be flat calling the flop to trap the A's and K's, so we can't rule out that he has trips, but we can't auto assume that he has. We must continue to bet strong and represent the story we told pre-flop

It seems you like these, so let's run it back. Did I play this well? I'm toying with an alternative line here...

History:
$10/$20/$40 NL at Wynn. $12K effective.
I'm stuck $5K, and just lost an all-in with aces. I've been relatively active in a slow game.

Action:
Pro opens in LJ (3 from the button) to $100, I 3B to $500 with A♠️A♥️ in the SB, he 4B to $1,300.

I think about flatting to mix it up. I would then check/call or check/raise depending on the flop. This protects my range and allows me to bluff later on.

Thoughts?

Anyway, I feel that my image is aggro and he is strong, so I go for it.

I make it $3,000 and he calls.

Pot: $6,000
Flop: Q♦️8♣️3♦️
I bet $1,500, he quickly calls.

Pot: $9,000
Turn: 2♣️
We have $8K left. I think about shoving, but most of my air gives up here. Checking also allows me to shove the river if he checks behind, or pick off bluffs if he has one.

At the same time, I don't want to give a free card or miss value.

What's your move? Do you like the 5B, or just flat pre?

@AlecTorelli Great topic. I didn't think it would be that obvious. His image as the aggressor played into his hands when he hits the perfect setup & easy to get the maximum from it. Hard for you to put him in on that as you can't always assume everyone always has the nuts.

@AlecTorelli If you did, I think you'd want to protect it against the possible straight and flush draws. He could be making a play from the button with air, but that river bet doesn't add to that.
Based on his over river bet i'd say he had AhKh and was trying to rep KK/AA. Am I close?
