Nos dirigimos a ustedes en representación de la comunidad global de seguidores del grupo musical para expresar nuestra profunda indignación ante las recientes declaraciones emitidas durante su transmisión respecto a los integrantes de la agrupación y su público.

Durante el programa, los locutores hicieron uso de un tono despectivo para burlarse y distorsionar deliberadamente los nombres de los artistas ("Jang Jukes", "Jukes Jin Cook"), acompañándolo de expresiones de desprecio hacia su identidad e idioma. Ridiculizar la pronunciación de nombres no occidentales no es un chiste inofensivo; constituye una falta de respeto cultural y una microagresión que perpetúa prejuicios sobre los artistas asiáticos en los medios internacionales.

Asimismo, rechazamos categóricamente la descalificación generalizada hacia los seguidores del grupo, a quienes se catalogó repetidamente como "perdedores". Si bien comprendemos que los medios de comunicación expresen opiniones, el insulto gratuito no equivale a la crítica periodística o al entretenimiento.

Por lo anterior, exigimos formalmente:
—Una aclaración y disculpa pública: Que los locutores involucrados reconozcan el tono despectivo y la insensibilidad cultural mostrada hacia los integrantes de BTS.

—Respeto a la identidad de los artistas: Que el medio adopte un estándar mínimo de profesionalismo al referirse a figuras públicas internacionales, respetando la pronunciación de sus nombres y su origen.

A la vez revisen con detenimiento la conducta, ética y profesionalismo de las personas encargadas de conducir sus transmisiones.

Quienes tienen acceso a un micrófono y a una audiencia tienen la responsabilidad mínima de informarse correctamente y expresarse con respeto. Permitir que los conductores recurran a la burla de nombres, a la insensibilidad cultural y a los insultos directos hacia el público no solo demuestra una falta de preparación, sino que afecta seriamente la credibilidad del propio medio.

Exigimos que realicen su trabajo con profesionalismo y que establezcan filtros adecuados para evitar que personal sin el debido rigor ético continúe emitiendo comentarios despectivos al aire.

@iHeartRadio Disrespecting the very people who showed up and packed your festival from day one, then calling them “losers” simply because they complained about sound issues — issues that were also pointed out by people outside the fandom — is completely unacceptable. Instead of acknowledging the criticism, explaining what happened, or simply apologizing, you chose to attack the people who attended and supported your event.

But dragging Jungkook into this and mocking his name crosses another line entirely. He traveled nearly 12 hours specifically to perform at your festival, went on stage for barely 15 minutes, and still gave it everything he had as the professional he is. Using his name as a joke when he had absolutely nothing to do with those complaints is incredibly disrespectful. Deliberately mocking a Korean name can also play into racist and xenophobic stereotypes that a media outlet should know better than to normalize.

This is also disrespectful to BTS as a whole. For years, they have always shown nothing but professionalism, kindness, and willingness to participate in iHeartRadio shows and events. Whenever they have been invited, they have given their time and treated everyone with respect. The very least they deserve in return is that same respect.

We demand a public apology from @TheWoodyShow to BTS, and especially to Jungkook, for mocking his name. We also expect iHeartRadio to address what happened and take it seriously. Criticism about problems at an event can be addressed and explained. Insulting your own audience and turning one of the artists who showed up for your festival into the punchline is not an acceptable response.
