Hi 👋 Citadel makes running your own #Bitcoin node a breeze.
Why would you do that, you ask?
I'll explain it to you in 5 minutes! 👇

I promise it's easier than you think
@LarryLasermind@derHelper Das hier gibt es nicht mehr. Ich habe mir die neue Codebase nicht so genau angeschaut, aber soweit ich weiß, gibt es sowas nicht mehr
Nirvati 0.1.1 and @runcitadel 0.4 Alpha 1 (Very early preview) are coming soon!
🛡️ Nirvati 0.1.1 contains a security fix for an issue that would let an app potentially communicate with other apps without you being aware - Nirvati is designed to prevent this by default.
@evoskuil@volker_btc@umbrel@mynodebtc@start9labs I have no idea about how ZeroMQ works, and it's the less commonly used protocol right now for Bitcoin Core.
Most apps we have use JSON-RPC.
I'll have a look at your project in detail soon, I think we can integrate it at least for testing purposes
@evoskuil@volker_btc@umbrel@mynodebtc@start9labs But is that ZeroMQ compatible with what Bitcoin Core offers?
We could easily add a drop-in replacement for Bitcoin Core, but something else is harder to integrate into a platform if most apps don't support it.
@dtvelectronics@LibreOffice@getnirvati Collabora Office is based on LibreOffice, but made to be used remotely.
Using these in the context of Nextcloud makes sense, standalone not really.
There is a paid product OnlyOffice Docs Home Server and other enterprise products, but we do not have support for paid apps yet.
Citadel 0.4.0 will also be released on that day.
Please note that this upcoming version of Citadel will not yet support upgrades from older Citadel versions. Upgrades are coming later.
@MaxMidniteX It's a completely new system built from scratch.
Some new stuff:
- Multi-account support
- HTTPS by default
- Network isolation between apps
- Integrated access from anywhere
- Storage management (storage limits for apps)
- Much better stability & performance
@MaxMidniteX - Permission management for apps
- Easier updates for apps
- Pause apps (keep data, but don't have them running)
- Protect apps with your main login credentials
- Faster system updates

@Xenomorph10 There is a requirement for 8GB of RAM. RPi 4 with 8GB RAM will work.
A version with support for devices with less RAM is also coming in the future.
