@stevemagness I am the opposite and wish I had the confidence that would allow me to think that I know just as much or more than the next person. I am always open to learning from other running coaches. Itโs how Iโve gotten better as both a coach and as a runner.
My hope: A big trend in fitness will be more emphasis on mental illness and mental health. More world-class athletes and coaches will come forward and share their stories, an unambiguously good thing. We are not a mind and a body. We are a mind-body system.https://t.co/XzL4FYwPXN

Knowing when to back off and take a complete day off, or even more, is one of the secrets of success. The training log we all keep would be more of a hindrance than a help if it pushed us to run extra miles. When in doubt, listen to your body.
Training Tip Tuesday: TAKE IT EASY ON THE EASY RUNS! I used to roll my eyes at this. Itโs fun to pound the pavement, stomping on emotion and passing people on the trail, but itโs not fun to get hurt...itโs not fun to jeopardize your training.
Thank you @byJenAMiller for your beautiful writing on the disappointment of missed races: โIโm allowed to be disappointed โ and you are too โ when these things happen because itโs disruption on top of a year of setbacks, bad news, frustration and grief.โ @nytimeswell
