People are mad at no Genesis but the whole point is these are the last people to disappear from the DMW as Zack dies. Sephiroth is the outlier since he is one of the first 3 that disappear, but that’s why he is the furthest facing away, plus it makes the most thematic sense

Not that it matters, Glenn is teasing regardless

In Crisis Core, before Angeal is given knowledge by Genesis of the sinister truth behind his birth, he tells Zack a childhood story. The tale is about him never stealing dumbapples from a particular tree in Banora that grew on a wealthy estate owned by Genesis’ father. This loosely reflects the biblical Book of Genesis, in which God only forbids Adam and Eve from eating the fruit (often depicted as apples) of one tree - the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.

@wingneery Oh yeah I knew about reno rude I meant moreso between AGS. Like the CC relationship chart uses 親友 for seph/angeal and seph/genesis and 幼なじみ for gen/angeal.

@wingneery no problem, also one last thing since you deleted the other posts before I got to reply. The partner title in japanese is 相棒, Genesis uses this word to describe Angeal in CC too. I can't remember if it was used elsewhere tbh

@wingneery yeah, it makes sense it was translated the way it was nor do I think it's wrong. Angeal is sweet enough to be considering everyone his friend, so it really does not affect the way his character reads, after all he says:
「ソルジャーは全員、同僚であり友人です。」

@wingneery Hmmm I don’t really think things translate that cleanly haha. Nakama is infamous for not really having a good english counterpart. I imagine it is being used in same context as “comrade” though english speakers don’t like using that word.

@wingneery Sorry part of this thread got reposted on a different platform and was getting attention and I’d figure I’d say something. TLDR it just relies on context. This doesn’t mean 仲間 aren’t close or can’t be, after all there is a special kind of bond when working towards a common goal

@wingneery 仲間 is not necessarily deeper than 友達, they serve different purposes. JPN Angeal calls everyone 仲間 even people he doesn’t know. Like the word friend, 友達 is ambiguous on how deep the connection is. 仲間 can hate each other, but 友達 fundamentally enjoy each others company

@DailyRhapsodos Angeal and Genesis have amazing rhythm fighting together during that scene too, perfectly alternating attacks and never getting in each other’s way… they’d be perfect at dancing together. Either dance lessons together as kids or Genesis would homeschool Angeal after practice 🤭

Closer look at Angeal's animation for his ultimate weapon balmung. When finishing the attack he stands on his toes and taps his feet together before going back to default stance. A very dance like motion, I enjoy the touch of grace they've been giving him after his attacks finish
