In my 14 years in the Senate I've led the fight to take designating the Muslim Brotherhood as terrorists from a fringe idea to being implemented. I authored, introduced, and pushed my Muslim Brotherhood Designation Act with different strategies in 2015, 2017, 2020, 2021 - and for this Congress in 2025 I developed a bottom-up approach which was what President Trump and his team used to do the designations.

As I'm sure you know the fight is global. I authored and passed into law sanctions against Hamas, which is the Palestinian branch of the Muslim Brotherhood. I'm pushing my Nigeria Religious Freedom Accountability Act, which sanctions Nigerian officials for imposing sharia on Christians, which the Nigerian government is lashing out against, and which working with the administration to get it implemented piece by piece. The Trump admin has implemented much of my policy.

Back to here in the US, the battle is not just against the Muslim Brotherhood but the network that sustains them: the Red-Green Communist-Islamist alliance. No one denies more needs to be done. I have legislation to strip the immunity from international orgs that finance terrorism (the LIABLE Act), to give prosecutors new tools that go after violent Communist-Islamist groups (the Stop FUNDERs Act), and close legal loopholes that enable financing those groups (the Sponsor Act).
