The final membership vow in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) is that members of a local church “promise to study (i.e. commit to pursuing) its purity and peace.”
Significantly, these are two of the beatitudes in Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount:
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God” (Matt. 5:8–9).
James also brings them together in his pastoral admonition, when he writes,
“The wisdom from above is ‘first pure, then peaceable,’ gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere” (James 3:17).
The entirety of the Christian life is to be lived among the brethren in “purity and peace.” May these twin graces be evidently manifest in our own lives and in the church fellowship to which we belong.

This Easter, I invite you to look at Jesus, consider what he said and did, and ask for yourself what I believe is the most important question you will ever answer: Did he really leave behind an empty tomb? And if he did, what does that mean for you?
This video was made possible and in collaboration with my friends at @ChildlikeMedia.
Pictures worth a thousand words.
