I have been on phone just now with Chief Logan about a fire happening along the north side of Friars Road across the street from Fashion Valley adjacent to Ulric Street. I am told that crews are responding rapidly with intense resources, aircraft, and more. Please avoid the area.

1/ This morning, I had detailed conversations with our @SDFD Chief Logan & with SDGE about the fire risks we have this upcoming week with high winds. Our city resources are fully activated & SDGE’s Emergency Operations Center are fully staffed 24/7 since this past weekend.

I had the chance to repay the favor in 2008 when we went to see a Yankee game together and it was old-timers’ day. Rickey came out with other greats beforehand. He was always the highlight for me.

Rickey is the reason I love baseball. The grit of sliding on a steal, the confidence to lay off a close pitch, the humor and camaraderie, and the guts to run. It’s no understatement to say that I fell in love with baseball and the @Padres in ‘96 because of Rickey Henderson. RIP

The best birthday gift I ever got was when my dad flew us from SD to Oak and we watched a double header. Rickey robbed a homer at the fence that day. We got there very early before the game and shook his hand, said we were from SD, and he was gracious. Rickey is unforgettable.
