@thorn_john Very cool find.
I'm not sure how aware you are of this, but there's a group of gentlemen out there that spend an ungodly amount of time/money/resources to unearth rare games. Just a few years ago, one of them found a complete 1960 tv broadcast of the yankees/orioles on film.
@adam_ballinger These are fantastic!
I remember how cool I thought I was playing basketball as a kid in the 90s, until a much older & much more legit ball player was working with me at a camp and told me if I worked hard, I could be an Ostertag type of player one day . π
@thorn_john@MLB Doing research a couple of years ago and, came across a handful of articles by Roger Treat and, was pleasantly surprised at his stance. Outside of the gentlemen from the Daily Worker, I can't think of any other white writer as vocal as he was in support of integration.
@WillStern_ I remember this auction, and this estimate!
I was new to auctions, and thought their estimate seemed low, but what the hell do I know. It took every bit of willpower I had, but I saved about $1,000, and was ready to claim my prize. 5 seconds after the auction opened....FML lol
@CameronMaybin@TrentMaybin @PadresScout2026 That's a beautiful swing! Can he hoop too? I was at a park once (Amboy?) & remember seeing you busting people on the court.
@missclassicfilm, I came across this while doing some research and thought you may appreciate it (if you haven't already seen it)!
It's from a 1966 issue of the New York World-Telegram.
@thehorrorchick@therealjoebob It was soooo good! There's no way this wouldn't have been one of my nostalgic obsessions had I seen it when I was a child.
