#WATCH | Kolkata: On yesterday's incident of stone pelting in Park Circus area, West Bengal CM Suvendu Adhikari says, "Such incidents no longer occur in Kashmir. In Bengal, people had become accustomed to a certain laxity—they felt that the government would not take any action against them. The police will now act strictly in accordance with the law; they are the law enforcement agency. Gone are the days when police personnel would get injured while the Police Minister merely sat in an air-conditioned room, watching the things unfold—forget those days now. From this point forward, hooliganism will be eradicated from Bengal. The message must reach everyone that this government is here to take action. Regarding the recent incident, someone had actually posted about it on social media before it even took place—the police are currently investigating this matter. Previously, the police were unable to function effectively due to certain political biases; however, they are now free and are operating strictly in accordance with the law under the BNSS framework. Furthermore—in terms of strengthening and modernising the Kolkata Police, as well as enhancing their infrastructure and logistical support—just wait and watch; they will prove to be the finest among all police forces. They deserve our full support. I would like to request the Union Home Minister to allow the 40 companies of paramilitary forces currently deployed here to remain in the state until alternative arrangements can be made; otherwise, we will face a severe manpower shortage. I appeal to the public to extend their full cooperation to both the police and the government. However, engaging in stone-pelting or vitiating the atmosphere by misusing religious slogans—none of this will be tolerated in Bengal under any circumstances."

The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) has received concerning videos and photographic representations through the CM’s Grievance Cell from conscientious Students of Jadavpur University, reporting instances of objectionable, sociopathic, violent and Anti-National wall graffiti & drawings inside the Arts Division Boys Hostel premises.
Educational Institutions are sacred spaces of learning, academic excellence and nation-building. Under no circumstances will Campus premises be permitted to be used as platforms for spreading deranged propaganda and Anti-India sentiment.

I urge Vice Chancellor, Jadavpur University, Principal Secretary Higher Education Department and other competent Authorities to initiate an immediate inquiry into the matter, firstly by conducting an on-ground physical verification of the Arts Division Boys Hostel area to ascertain the existence of these inappropriate wall graffiti and if found then proceed to identify the individuals involved.

The West Bengal Government strictly follow Zero Tolerance Policy towards Anti National Activities anywhere in the State, especially in Campuses of Educational Institutions. The concerned Department and University Administration must ensure stringent compliance and the preservation of academic integrity. If the presence of such Anti-National messaging and deranged psychotic drawings is verified, immediate steps must be taken to remove the graffiti, fix accountability and initiate strict administrative and legal action against those responsible.

West Bengal’s educational institutions must remain centers of merit & discipline, not grounds for divisive rhetoric and unsocial activities.

To all media: The two suspects arrested in the Rangpur Hindu killings did not commit the murders. This is a police-created drama. No confession has been obtained from them.

The victim’s family refuses to accept these two as the accused. The family says police are not conducting a proper investigation and are trying to close the case.
