UPROR-UAW is an organization by, of, and for Rockefeller University Postdocs who want to unionize in order to improve our research and employment experience.
We’re getting ready for the NY Researchers Stand Up! day of action.
Join researchers across NYC @CPWUAW@WCMPostdocUnion@rocsuaw@eruuaw@rupostdocunion in our fight for fair contracts.
Come rally with us tomorrow, Wednesday May 20: https://t.co/aXy1gVxKLi
This May 20: *NY Researchers Stand Up!*
Join researchers across New York for a citywide Day of Action for fair contracts and to defend science.
We’re organizing for job stability, workplace rights, and the future of research.

We distributed flyers to attendees of the Insight Lecture to spread the word about postdocs’ demands. We need a contract that includes clear, enforceable timelines for cases of discrimination/harassment/bullying. We will not waive our legal rights to go to court. Enough is enough
6+ months into bargaining, @IcahnMountSinai still refuses basic workplace rights. Today, we delivered an open letter signed by 400+ senior researchers and postdocs @spocuaw, calling on them to reach a fair contract so we can get back to doing the research we love. #FairSinaiNow
Postdoc organizers from across @RockefellerUniv came together this week to discuss how to respond collectively should Rockefeller continue to refuse basic protections against harassment, discrimination, and bullying.
At our bargaining session with @RockefellerUniv yesterday, we continued to push for strong protections against harassment, discrimination, and bullying without delay and without restricting our rights. It was great to see so many postdocs show up in support!
@WCMPostdocUnion Now, we await the University’s response to all outstanding articles this Friday (March 20) at 11am! Please sign up to attend as an observer using the link in our bio.
More than a year since we started bargaining, over 50 postdocs from across the University gathered to discuss our progress so far and the Rockefeller administration’s continued refusal to agree to basic protections that are increasingly standard among unionized researchers. 🧵
We also heard from a member of @WCMPostdocUnion about how they recently won their first contract. We concluded with an open discussion about how we can more effectively convey to Rockefeller the urgency of reaching a fair agreement.
After almost a year of bargaining, @RockefellerUniv has not offered adequate protections against discrimination, bullying, harassment and abusive conduct rampant in academia
We delivered an open letter to President Lifton signed by 85% of postdocs calling for stronger protections
"EBRI would help sustain the vital funding streams that keep progress in psychiatry moving forwards." - Justice Simonetti, Graduate Student Researcher @IcahnMountSinai
Today in Albany, we made the case to dozens of state legislators and staff for investing in NY science through the Empire State Biomedical Research proposal. #FundNYScience
"I am hopeful that this initiative can actually help change things for the better again. Dedicated state funding for science could help to alleviate the growing uncertainty which will attract and retain talent coming to New York from all over the world to perform practice-changing research." - Juliane Grimm, Postdoctoral Fellow @EinsteinMed
"New York is a place of ideas, opportunities and growth. Establishing EBRI will allow scientists to focus on them." - Daniel Savran, Postdoctoral Research Scientist @Columbia
Science saves lives, creates jobs, and strengthens New York’s economy. We’re fighting for the state to invest in the science that serves the public good. @AMSNewYork@NYcures@UAWRegion9A@KathyHochul
Our Virtual Statewide Town Hall for Medical Research is tomorrow, Friday Jan 9, 12pm. Join New York researchers and elected officials, medical colleges, and patients to discuss how state funding can drive life-saving biomedical research across New York.
Check out this highlight from @samhegde2006@IcahnMountSinai at our Statewide Town Hall for research funding: "When science funding is disrupted, it doesn’t just slow down discovery, it also cuts short promising careers, with rippling effects on society and healthcare. We actually have a real opportunity right now to change the narrative, right here in NY."
