Any woman who was charged dowry to marry a man has every right to claim every rupee of it back with market rate interest. Working or not working is completely irrelevant. That money was extracted from her family as a condition of her marriage. It was never a gift. It was a transaction and she is owed the full return.

Any woman who was harassed, exploited or made to suffer after marriage deserves compensation for every year of mental and emotional damage she absorbed while keeping that household running.

This is not alimony as charity. This is basic accountability for what was taken from her, her money, her peace, her years, her dignity.

Men who have a problem with this should have thought about it before taking the dowry and before making her life miserable.

You cannot extract from someone for years and then cry exploitation when the bill arrives.
