@DINOSAURIAUTDR I interpreted it as a nod to Undertale. Most of the enemy stats in Undertale are "fake" and the actual stats are much smaller. But this is explained in universe as stats fluctuating based on intent. Toriel doesn't hit like she has 80 ATK because she doesn't want to hurt you

@JadesEvolution Given how filled to the brim it is of chapter 4 motifs I'm okay that it was left for chapter 4. Plus hey maybe this means we get a new battle theme every chapter, means more Toby Fox battle themes!

@Krystallingz @michaelbomb_ 1. You do get stat benefits for attacking in Deltarune, but they are weak, which intrinsically communicates to the player that it likely isn't worth it.

2. Undertale didn't give "benefits" for violence either. It only really altered dialogue and locked out certain scenes.

@michaelbomb_ In complete fairness, opening Dektarune tells you it's intended that you play Undertale first, and more importantly, the game emphasizes much more persistently that mercy is the preferable route thanks to Ralsei.

That, and "kill or be killed" and "your choices don't matter" are-

@michaelbomb_ -not statements the games want you to accept at face value. You're supposed to challenge them. The way you get the best ending in Undertale is by defying kill or be killed. The way you get the best experience in Deltarune is by understanding your choices DO matter.

@FlDDAUTHOR The argument was back when it was way less even, it was when Emma Frost came out which was like a year and a half ago I think. I think the game has gotten better about at least making it even since then. But yeah I can't really get into the gameplay when it's that blatant lol

Apparently he didn't, but you'll never guess what the day 2 hotfix added

@Blueminikufan @GrillMaster135 They want more because all those units and not once was their team good. Legends would rather release 50 glass cannon units than give the team based on team-based tournament arcs any actual synergy. Anytime the team is good it's because they have a Top 3 Goku or smth

@TemmieOrSmth99 100% agree, I actually almost made a short video right after 3+4 dropped since the fact that it got used for Susie in 3 and Ralsei in 4 confused me, esp since early Ch4 reinforces the idea that it's a Holiday family theme
