@killjayn There's def that aspect for me, too. I don't speak Polish, have never been to Poland, and I wasnt raised Catholic so I'm not seen as Polish.
I do speak some Hebrew but I don't believe in Judaism or follow Jewish customs/holidays so I'm not really seen as a Jew either.

@killjayn Over time though I've connected more with people who aren't the same race/ethnicity than those who are. All my friends growing up were black, Latino, Vietnamese, and Korean. And in Japan now my friends are all different backgrounds. I like it this way.

I'm not biracial or POC so my perspective and upbringing are probably very different from yours, but being an ethnoreligious minority is hard especially when you don't believe in the religion.

@9alloism When I first moved here for work that range was pretty comfortable as a young single adult, but also health insurance/pension/food/rent/tickets/cheki were cheaper.
Salaries really should be higher now, especially in Tokyo. The reality hasnt caught up with companies and the govt
