¿EE.UU.? ¡No sé!
@KartiPC@NTA_Exams You should also shut down all the shopping malls since there might be a theft in one of them. And close the roads because I heard someone was speeding.

His name is Mohammad Aamir Khan.
On the night of February 20, 1998, his mother asked him to buy medicines from a shop in Old Delhi. He was 18 years old.
He never made it to the shop.
Men in plain clothes stopped him on the street. He did not know they were police officers. They took him to an abandoned building. For seven days, he was held in illegal custody. He was tortured. He was forced to sign blank sheets of paper.
Then the Delhi Police Special Cell produced him in court and charged him with 19 counts of bombing across Delhi, Ghaziabad, Rohtak and Sonepat between December 1996 and October 1997.
He was presented to the media as a terrorist.
His family was never informed. They spent days searching police stations before finding out what had happened.
He spent 14 years in prison. Through torture. Through solitary confinement. He watched case after case fall apart in court as evidence was shown to be fabricated.
In 2012, he was acquitted in 17 of 19 cases. Two cases remain pending. He had already served more time in jail than the maximum sentence he could have received even if convicted on all charges.
He walked out of prison in January 2012.
His father had died while he was inside. His mother had suffered a stroke so severe she no longer recognised him when he walked through the door.
The National Human Rights Commission directed the Delhi government to pay him compensation.
The amount was Rs 5 lakh.
No officer from the Delhi Police Special Cell was charged. No one was suspended. No inquiry was ordered.
He wrote a book about what was done to him. He called it Framed As A Terrorist. My 14 Year Struggle To Prove My Innocence.
He now helps other wrongfully accused prisoners navigate the system that destroyed him.
India gave him Rs 5 lakh and called it justice.

No journalist covering the #Bengal elections can ignore this: SIR deletions while they are - aren't just rolls purification —there is also clear disenfranchisement. .. - Have met scores outside appellate tribunals with complete documentation— even links to the 2002 rolls—standing in long queues losing daily wages, spending precious ₹150–₹300 on photocopies, only to leave confused, anxious, holding a torn white slip with a hand scribbled number. this isn't what electoral integrity looks like .. Did the powers that be fail to safeguard it? Yes.
Woe to those who manipulate religion and the very name of God for their own military, economic, and political gain, dragging that which is sacred into darkness and filth. #ApostolicJourney#Cameroon https://t.co/bKteFZ3iWE

The West Bengal state leadership of the CPI(M) is staging a sit-in right now outside the office of the Chief Electoral Officer. The delegation, which includes Polit Bureau members @salimdotcomrade and @sridipbhatta went there to meet the CEO to formally submit a charter of demands. But he didn't even bother to show up.
Police told the delegation to leave, but they will wait and not move till he shows up. They cannot be intimidated and will stay there all night if needed. The demand is to ensure the voting rights of each and every person on the rolls.
Onwards, comrades! Solidarity ✊🏾
Being the only woman panelist on a book discussion on 'Inshallah Bangladesh' today was a reminder of the price a minority and a progressive woman has to pay for speaking out.
The moment I suggested that dismantling history and renaming cities is the work of extremists-be it Bangladesh or India,an audience member began shouting me down, almost akin to a verbal lynching even before I had completed my sentence, completely unprovoked, the man's body was literally shaking as he shouted at me from the audience chair.I maintained my cool, and politely asked the unruly person-not to heckle me as I speak.
Just a reminder that this is the daily reality of being a woman and a minority in the line of fire.
Suvendu Adhikari says Amartya Sen doesn’t have any contribution to Bengal. Suvendu as the Transport Minster of Mamata Banerjee government ensured death of public transport in the state.
Sad to hear about the passing of veteran journalist and author Mark Tully. He came to India to report for the BBC decades ago and made India his home. To be with him was always an enriching experience. Whenever I met him he insisted on talking in Hindustani and he did converse very well. He will be awfully missed by many journalists and friends. And the number is truly huge. Sincere condolences 🙏🙏
