VERTIGO (1958) - the iconic shot of Kim Novak under the Golden Gate Bridge was initially planned as a wide shot but Paramount Pictures didn't want to pay for the 3 background actors. Hitchcock paid $6593 to embrace early AI and create the wide shot as he envisioned it.
