Minima is building the ultimate embedded Layer 1: a full blockchain node that runs on phones & chips.

Here is the latest XXIM Podcast episode with Hugo and Adam from @Minima_Global. Watch it!

The founders started Minima in 2019 with a clear vision: deliver real censorship resistance and resilience through full decentralization.

They saw how mining and staking inevitably lead to centralization due to economies of scale. So they made it something different!

Nodes collaborate instead of competing, the ledger is distributed so each device only holds its own transactions plus a tiny cryptographic root hash, and devices prove past data existed without storing everything.

The result is a system where pretty much every device can run a full node and participate equally.

The team has already embedded Minima on drones in collaboration with Siemens, Arm, and the University of Southampton.

The drone captures thousands of telemetry and sensor data points per second, hashes them into the chain, and creates an immutable record, even after a crash.

This opens doors for medical deliveries, environmental monitoring, and autonomous operations where trust in the data is critical.

There are also automotive use cases, with black-box recorders for insurance and self-driving cars.

The goal is to provide tamper-proof, independently verifiable logs that courts and regulators can trust, enabling automatic claims settlement.

They also talk about their pilot with Zeekr (part of the Geely-Volvo group) with the mission of turning private home EV wall chargers into monetizable public, basically Airbnb for EVs.

Users can also locate, book, and pay atomically with tokens, solving cross-border payments, fraud, and infrastructure shortages while giving owners revenue from idle chargers.

Looking ahead, they’re working on a one-click Minima integration for Raspberry Pi users for sensor and device verification, and they’ve built an AI compliance logger that timestamps and hashes AI decisions.

This will definitely help companies meet regulations like the EU AI Act.

Blockchain isn’t needed for everything. For many use cases, you just don't need blockchain infrastructure.

But for autonomous machines, regulated industries, and interactions between untrusted parties in the real world, Minima’s edge-native approach solves problems nothing else can.
