The abuse didn’t make you strong - you had it in you the whole time. Someone temporarily dimmed your light. Now that you are 🔥don’t give abusers credit for making you strong. Thick of yourself as a force to be reckoned with- moving forward 🌺
I cannot begin to tell you how powerful it is when we can stop an eviction or get a vet into an apartment. It breathes new life into them. Hope. It lets them know someone cares. You cannot buy that. Help us. Help veterans. We have a long line. #codeofvets

Taking down a video, changing a passage, or printing a retraction is not good enough when any marginalized or underrepresented community tells you how much you’ve harmed them. Reconciliation takes more work than that.
OUR NEAREST & DEAREST CAN SOMETIMES BE OBLIVIOUS TO THE EXTENT OF OUR STRUGGLE
with mental health issues or chronic illness so I just want2encourage you today by saying those of us who also walk this path DO SEE how hard it can be - I acknowledge your effort&am cheering you on❤️
When you've been abused or betrayed by family, especially immediate family, it becomes almost impossible to trust again.
Tread lightly with these survivors. Their walls are high. It's a privilege to be let in. Anyone who re-traumatizes a survivor of this, is pure evil.
Telling a traumatized person they must forgive in order to heal is attaching them back to their abuser, recreating a vulnerable dependency out of their control. Forgiveness is not always a beneficial tool in healing trauma. Trauma work is a tool to heal trauma.
The importance of having a power of attorney for every person cannot be underestimated.

‘It broke me’: Everyone says you need power of attorney, but nobody tells you how hard it is to use https://t.co/qWOthyi6WR
This is wrong. @USATODAY will run an article on us if we pay them $15K and that is a bargain. They were going to charge us $50K.
We do not have staff or budget to do this. This is what I mean when I say people say they want to help vets until it is time to help.
