Today I’m going to the eating disorder unit I was on this time 5 years ago, to give a talk on recovery (@CPFT_NHS ). Never did I think the experience of having anorexia would lead me into #OccupationalTherapy and where I am today. My OT who was on the ward with me is coming today

One of my patients has dementia and won’t settle on night shift. He used to be a doctor. We’ve already been on our tea break, had coffee and a muffin, and he’s reviewing some ECGs I’ve given him. He falls asleep every now and then, but I think he’s doing a good job. ☺️

What I love about activity analysis is what it teaches us about the complexity of “simple tasks” like putting on a shirt , drinking water etc

A simple task such as putting on a shirt requires multiple clients factors and performance skills

I'm still not over this absurd policy. Anyone that knows someone with, or has personally experienced an eating disorder knows 1. how easily they start and 2. how impossible they are to get out of. They require intense, consistent & unpleasant therapy. They also kill people?

Bank holiday weekend has coincided with the first hot weekend of the year, so in peak NHS all the radiators are on full blast and can’t be turned off. Parts of the hospital are so hot we’ve had to close them. Absolutely classic.

Don’t mean to cause alarm, but this is an NHS cutlery drawer. Those are actual teaspoons and forks. Incredible. Outstanding.

Can anyone tell me what is actually considered a ‘long lie’. I thought it was over 4hrs, then I was told it was over 2hrs. A nurse told me ‘it depends’ but didn’t elaborate. Anyone help me out??

Watching episode 6 of surgeons at the edge of life from @BBCTwo and the guy who has his hand and forearm amputated was treated by OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY not occupational health. We need to fix this confusion! We are a protected profession and deserve to get Recognition! @theRCOT
