@still_critical I was thinking the same thing lmao, like you don’t have to sell abortion to me. Having my child be a perpetual toddler is not appealing at all.
@_BlackBinLiner@AdamPollock Really the only times these pregnancies are brought to term are when the parents don’t test, or opt not to terminate for religious reasons. Once they know, most couples inevitably will come to the same conclusion this one did.
@_BlackBinLiner@AdamPollock I can think of many reasons someone would do this. They don’t have the time, energy or money to raise a disabled child who will likely never be fully independent. Given the option to opt out most would, that’s why over 90% of children with downs end up aborted.
@Dropchicken7@Nisikaa1@NKY_Leftist@anarchoboognish Having to add a bunch of stipulations to having no legs is not all things being equal. And even with those accommodations there are certain things the person with no legs will never be able to do.
Having a child develop issues later on is different than knowing full well the fetus will have huge issues that lead it to have an extremely low qol while at the same time destroying yours. If I knew my child would develop issues that would drive me to homelessness while they were still in the womb I’d absolutely terminate the pregnancy.
@NaumannBob46915@TABYTCHI@stillvaunted If I knew they would be at 81 I wouldn’t abort because that’s a pretty normal age to be in one, if I knew they’d be in a home by 35 I 100% would.
@GeneralDrake@brandominoefect@MattWalshBlog Tbh when hydrocephalus goes untreated that would be the humane thing to do. When it gets this bad the child is usually so brain damaged they barely qualify as sentient, they’re also blind and deaf.
@TexianPa@MattWalshBlog Love how yall always post them as kids when they’re all cute instead of posting them when they’re a 40 year old who still wears diapers and needs to be hand fed.
@Hollywood7300@TemiXo_1 The unborn are extremely cheap, especially at the stages where downs is typically detected and dealt with. Bringing a child to term that will almost certainly require lifelong care only to immediately abandon it is silly when you can make another healthy one within a few months.
@Hollywood7300@TemiXo_1 There isnt much demand for disabled children, the real outcome is them being left in care homes. The people who claim to want one and can’t get one are either lying, or held up for berucratic reasons .
@norcalkr7@dilanesper If I had a visibly disabled child 2000 years ago i probably would have just abandoned them on some hillside to die. Assuming both it and my wife survived childbirth. Thats just what was done in those days.
