"I'm about to turn 18. I'm old enough to decide things on my own."

The brief was to write Vania as a teen who had been sheltered all her life, naive in the ways of the world due to the lack of outside impressions.
Writing her as a 12 year old gets that across well. Her age, like all others’ in Ninjag, is not canonized.

Writers are specifically told not to comment on age to keep it purposefully vague and tell an infinite number of stories about the ninja (1/3)

@LukaT00N I don’t remember exactly what it was; it may very well have been 15 or 16 lol - his point was that she was written as a kid compared to the ninja/much younger. But the writers don’t/can’t comment on age so I would take it as colloquial/not hard canon
