“I watch Fox News all day”
Never forget that even in an era of social media misinformation and radicalization, Fox is still at the center of the right’s grip on its base.
@Brexit_Refugee@implausibleblog the government in the US also spends more per person on healthcare than the UK government does which is the really crazy stat
What's interesting about the Michigan Senate race is that Republicans are attacking Democrat Abdul El-Sayed for supporting universal healthcare, claiming America simply cannot afford it.
El-Sayed argues that universal healthcare is affordable if you stop allowing corporate profits to take priority over patient care.
Meanwhile, here in the UK, successive Conservative and Labour governments have continued outsourcing NHS services to private providers, which now account for roughly 7–10% of NHS spending, depending on how it's measured.
On 13 April 2026, the Centre for Health and the Public Interest published research estimating that private companies made £1.6 billion in profits from NHS contracts over just two years.
That's approximately £800 million a year in profits that could potentially be redirected towards frontline healthcare if services were brought back in-house.
Why should taxpayers continue funding private profits when that money could be spent treating patients, employing doctors and nurses, and reducing waiting lists?
Anakin becomes so invested in advancing the political agenda of a weird old grandpa that he loses his wife and becomes estranged from his children. So yes, very good allegory for young right-wing men
The entire point of Star Wars was that Anakin got manipulated into serving an authoritarian. You really thought this was a flex? The irony of identifying with a character who fell for every lie a powerful politician told him is absolutely incredible.
Gen Z support has almost completely collapsed for the right-wing project. The Anakin posting is mostly coming from older right-wing men who can relate to being duped by a 65-year-old politician into ruining everything, then doubling down in anger.
