Managing Partner at @1892consult, helping you invest in the best grants management practices so you have more time to focus on your grantmaking and grantees.
So much excitement following this morning's #FluxxCon2022 session where @shaadys, Emma at Wildcard Giving, and @rvans talked about how our team built @TrustBasedPhil practices into @fluxxlabs! We are looking forward to sharing more at tomorrow's sessions
I got this email from a funder who gave automatic increases to their grantees to adjust for inflation. Thank you! 🥰
Funders: inflation has been brutal on nonprofits. Please increase your current and future grants to account for it.
As June comes to an end, @rvans provides reflections on the changes we are experiencing in our country while our team busts myths around advocacy grants and shares tips & tricks to streamline your grantmaking.

Such an honor to participate in this conversation and incredibly excited for the future of the grants management profession as the ever-present innovator and disrupter in philanthropy.

Appreciate @mellemelb sharing advice she received to "be willing to risk my privilege as a funder." Echos this @ProfessorCrunk quote that I often reflect upon: “the hardest part about white privilege is that you actually then have to give something up.” #PEAK2022online

"Be clear as a leader of a foundation of the value that every BODY brings to the mission. Power is to be shared by everyone in the foundation." Perfectly said, @darrenwalker @PEAKgrantmaking #PEAKis25
While there's much bigger news @CandidDotOrg today, (Congrats, @annmei!), I'm also rather excited to see @PackardFdn using the GuideStar nonprofit profile to collect demographic data. Thanks for stepping up & encouraging peer fdns to do the same! https://t.co/Tw84F5OMlh
@SaraLeeeDeee @Grant_Advisor @tagtechorg Completely agree! There has to be more overlap, especially if you can segment by grant type. We did learn that the 39% does not include organization profile information. Ready to dig into the details!!
Really interested to see the details on the 39% of overlap of the #100Forms100Days from @Grant_Advisor @tagtechorg. Foundations are ready to change - this data analysis is the much needed evidence to make the case to foundation staff and leadership!
It's wild how many young folks of color know and understand the workings of non-profits, but not philanthropic foundations. The inaccessibility is outrageous and contributes to how white the philanthropic sector is.
Anything opaque about working with foundations you wish you understood?
Things you wish you knew before you started working in philanthropy?
Other ideas you want me to opine on?
I'm gearing up to write another series of essays–your queries may feature in a future essay!

So many great points here to reflect upon as you strive to become an accountable grantmaker. Thank you for writing this important piece, @es_campanita.
"You can start small by increasing flexibility for grantees around deadlines and reporting to prioritize what you can learn through deeper relationships with them."
