People’s Power vs. Drama

Followed by 500 years of civil war, misgovernance, and economic turmoil, the ancient Roman Republic degenerated into an autocratic Empire. The people’s power was stripped away office by office, law by law.

In return, emperors gave the people two things: subsidized grains (the cura annonae) and spectacular entertainment in the form of chariot races, gladiator combat, and mock naval battles in large stadiums.

This loss of democratic power in exchange for “bread and circuses” was never stated explicitly. But every Roman understood: You no longer have a voice in how Rome is governed. But it is guaranteed that you will never be bored, and you will never starve to death.

When life is already a constant struggle, people will willingly trade the mental burden of “free speech and logical thinking” for the instant drug-like escapist relief of surrendering independent judgment.

They will gladly bow down and drink water from the feet of a cultist, God-like figure who promises them a golden tomorrow. Deep down they know there is no tomorrow, but they don’t want to suffer the pain of reality. That would be suicidal.

And my patience level has ended. Also there were some policies which i believed would have been rectified, if some PR agencies and money hounded people wouldn’t have come in between.

Par aaj ki date ke baad mai agar koi bhi post karungi, it’ll be against you Modiji, and it’ll be only because of your do kaudi ke kutte which your PR agencies and the BJP itself have hired, and the future PR agencies that are gonna come only to save BJP’s arse. These agencies did nothing, but ultimately made your hardcore supporters like me go against you.

Watch me now, I’ll do everything to malign BJP’s name, khulle aam bol rahi hun, jisko jo ukhaadna hai ukhaad lena.
