Today, Minister of State, Col. Claudien Bizimungu, officiated the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion and upgrading works of the Prince House–Giporoso–Masaka Road, marking another important step in Rwanda’s continued efforts to develop sustainable, efficient and resilient transport infrastructure that supports economic growth and improves the well-being of citizens.

The 10.3-kilometre road is being implemented through the partnership between the Government of Rwanda and the Government of the People’s Republic of China.

Once completed, the project will contribute to improving the movement of people and goods, facilitating trade and enhancing transport services along this important corridor.

Speaking at the launch, Minister of State Col. Claudien Bizimungu acknowledged that the expansion and upgrading works may result in temporary traffic disruptions, particularly for road users travelling to and from different destinations along this busy route.

He called on road users and residents along the corridor to cooperate and comply with temporary traffic management measures that will be put in place during the construction period, in order to help maintain safe and smooth traffic flow.

Minister of State reaffirmed the Government of Rwanda’s commitment to working closely with all project partners to ensure that the works are delivered on schedule, to the required quality standards, and with the safety of all road users given the highest priority.

Uyu muhanda ufite uburebure bwa kilometero 10.3, uzagira uruhare mu kunoza urujya n’uruza rw’abantu n’ibintu, guteza imbere ubuhahirane ndetse no kunoza serivisi zo gutwara abantu n’ibintu.

Today, Minister of State @Zimuyenzi officially opened the 6th Renewable Energy for Sustainable Growth Conference and Exhibition 2026 in Kigali, bringing together government leaders, investors, private-sector actors, development partners and energy experts to advance Africa’s energy transformation.

The conference provides a platform to explore opportunities to accelerate renewable energy deployment, mobilise investment and strengthen partnerships towards a reliable, affordable, clean and inclusive energy future.

In his remarks, Minister of State @Zimuyenzi highlighted Rwanda’s progress in expanding access to electricity and the Government’s continued commitment to building a resilient and sustainable energy sector.

Rwanda has increased household electricity access to 85.4%, from approximately 64.5% five years ago, and is targeting universal electricity access by 2029 and increasing the contribution of renewable energy to at least 60% by 2030.

He called for stronger public-private partnerships, innovative financing, technology and faster project execution to unlock Africa’s vast energy potential and translate it into industrialisation, job creation, increased productivity and sustainable economic growth.
